"Being #1 in the world in anything takes a lot of doing. When it was killed in 1992, the LONNIE COPELAND WORLD RECORD 8-POINT (at right) was featured in hunting magazines far and wide.
Yes, this buck does actually have twelve points. But four of those are deductions, so the head’s net typical score is derived entirely from EIGHT scorable points
Recently re-scored at 185 7/8 points, the Copeland rack actually beats the #2 head by more than four inches. With 30-inch main beams and 17-inch G-2s, had not two tines (the G4 and G5 on the right main beam) been broken off in some unknown encounter this Arkansas monster might well have been a new world record typical when it was killed!"
Nicerack, that looks like the one i saw at the taxidermist this spring. It was hit by a car in Des Moines. If this is the one, the picture does not do it justice.
This buck was hit by my cousin off of Army Post Road. It ended up neting 171 and change even with about 1.5 inches of the G-2 ground off from the collison. I believe it grossed 178 and change. I've shed hunted this buck for a few years and I actually think he was larger last year when I saw him. He is a dandy of an 8. He has since been mounted I'll get a photo of the mount and post it, but pictures just don't do him justice. His undamaged G-2 is 14 6/8!
Does anyone know the story about these? I recently aquired these replicas and would like to know the story behind them. I think I remember seeing a photo of a kid on a porch with this buck several years ago. It grosses 182.
