Just wanted to say good luck to you all.
I will be thinking about hunting Iowa until next season got a point so maybe next year. I'll be in IL again giving it a good effort and hoping you all

do well in your efforts to take some doe this year.
Maybe if the doe are out of control they should make it so we N/R can aford a tag so we can do our part. I'd think 50.00 after pay 300.+ would be more fair... well anyway you all have a great season and can't wait to hear some of your huntN storys & see some great photos of some BIG BUCKS! have fun be safe and take a kid hunting.

I have to agree with you on that point. If they would give a reasonable price on a doe tag to the NR that draw it would help alot. None of them want to go home empty handed but who wants a $300 plus doe? Maggs

The IDNR has changed a lot for this year. Take a look at this link. Not trying to start anything I'm just saying that a lot has changed. you may be surprised.

NonResident antlerless tags are only $150.50. You do then have to have a nonreident hunting license and habitat fee. Total for 1 antlerless tag and all the small game and upland bird hunting you want for 239.50. Costs me more to do the same in Wisconsin.

What I'm trying to say is the DNR is putting the word out that they need/want
or require more doe's to be taken . They are willing to move the season to increase the harvest. I don't think anyone really wants that to happen cause if they do it within a few short years your qaulity will drop. If the real reason is they want more doe taken I'm just saying why charge those who draw an amount so high most will not or can not aford for a doe tag.
If I draw a tag next season to bow hunt a place I dream year around to bowhunt do you think I should spend 250. $300. to shoot a doe or use that $$$ to maybe pay for another 3 or 4 days of hunting. You see I'd be likely to do my part in helping to manage the doe if it were 25.00 like IL. but 250 -$300. not a chance . Do they really want doe taken or $$$.
I'm just a hunting guest when I come it's your state and it's great but you have to be real how many hunters out there will travel 1800 miles and pay 250 + for a doe tag. I'll spend for the
Iowa hunt next year 1800.00 w/out a doe tag.
Not saying anything against your DNR or anyone but really they are saying please don't shoot our golden doe's.
The sad part is if they sold the doe tags for 25 -50 they would sell so many they still make a killing and more doe's would be taken. My guess is someone really don't care about the doe numbers and thinks there making a killing selling doe tags.
I know many hunters who travel to IL and Iowa all the hunters who go to IL. buy a doe tag 70% take a doe. No one buys a doe tag for Iowa . Guess if you talk 2 out of 10 hunters into buying one you get about the same if all ten did at 50.But you still would not get
as many doe harvested as would be if all 10 hunters had tags.
Well sorry so long but just thought you did not understand my point.
Thanks and as a N/R I'd be glad to help with the management of doe but not if I have to pay for two piggys and a cow,,,
