Good Night at work

Well it was what you would call a very productive night at work. I was on a call when one of my partners told me that I needed to responded to a bldg on the grounds. When I got there I noticed my partner was gawking at one of the bldgs. and I couldn't figure out what was going on. When I rounded the corner I saw a nice basic 8pt with a sticker coming off his left G-2 and another nice one coming off his right G-3 with a doe standing in between the 2 bldgs. After standing there gawking for 10 mins it finally dawned on me that we were right in the middle of town. The doe finally had enough and took off running and the buck was hot on her tail. My partner asked what we should do and I figured that we should just let them go and they will find their way out of town. Oh how wrong I was. After watching them dodge traffic and run down the sidewalks we decided we had better get them outta town. We got a great game plan together that lasted a whole 2 seconds til the deer thought of something diffrent. We tried to herd them to the edge of town and they decided that they wanted to run in a area that was surrounded by a 6ft fence. My idea was I would unlock the gate at the other side and we would push them back into the corn field. Well while we finally got them heading towards the gate at a break neck speed I found out that I had the wrong keys and they didn't open that certain gate. I had thought for sure I was going to get stampeded so I jumped out at them and they turned tail and ran. To make this story short I got the right keys and opened the gate and they eventually ran out on their own. Maybe we should have done this the first time. I guess that's what happens when you get bored cops on a midnight shift.
