Was thinking of getting a go pro to film my hunts any advice. do they work well ?
 
Unless they have changed lenses where the objects don't look miles away definitely would think twice.
 
I have a hero 4 and im more than happy with it. Dove hunting i wear it on a head mount. Turkeys it will either be used in the decoy spread or a 2nd angle view.
Ive played with it more than i care to admit and they definitely have a place.
Ive had mine pointed back at me on my bow to catch the draw and shot and ive mounted it on my stabilizer to actually film a hunt.
If you set the camera to 1080 and put it on the narrow setting its a very effective camera
 
I really like the Tactacam - have had a ton of guys sell their GoPro's and buy them instead - super easy to mount to a bow - screws in like a stabilizer and doesn't make the target look like its a mile away.
 
Go Pros work great, but not as a main camera unless you are dove or pheasant hunting. For deer and turkey you would want something else for a main cam but they work great for 2nd angle and other cool shots.

If you get a go pro, I would say get the Hero 4. The LCD touch screen on the back is amazing, along with the ability to shoot time lapse and in 4k.

I really like mine. Its an up close and personal type camera. Boat side muskys and turkeys in the spread... KILLER!
 
I'll second the Tactacam. They really are great little cameras and you can mount them just about anywhere. Awesome quality and they don't have such a wide angle lens that makes everything look farther away than it is.
 
I have a Hero 2 & I love that I can attach it to my head, a clamp, my shotgun barrel or rifle scope or my bow. It's great for close up stuff. But is only OK for bow hunting. A deer at 30 yards looks tiny. The editing program does a ton of stuff & can let you zoom in & correct video. Deer December hunting in a stand for hours makes the battery cold & think that it's about dead. Here are a few links to some of my hunting videos to give you an idea.

Depends what your intentions are. The go pro is a great first person POV camera but is awful at the shot and the microphone when the go pro is in the housing is noisy and muffled. If you just want to capture footage it will be fine, but for a selfilmed hunt I would look at a camera on a camera arm. The go pro will shake at the shot and you have to maintain upright follow through after the shot which is not natural to many in their shot sequence. I use one for my second angle while using my primary on a tree arm. Hope this helps
