OK...I have less than half my cams out, but I'm slowly ramping up and getting the fever I always get
when the racks start to nip out.

I deleted about 400 pictures tonight, but I did like this one...the mid-day sunlight makes it neat.

There is a second buck to the left in the background.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyones velvet pictures from the Summer!

Just curious by your comment...

You view this buck as being a young aged deer?

It amazes me every year how a dainty buck in June can turn into a raging stud come Halloween. It's almost like they are a different species.

I think he looks to be 2, possibly 3. What do you think Ghost?

I think that this time of the year is by far the hardest time of the year to age (judge) a buck.

A buck's body will take on a major change from now until the fall.

I fully agree with Bruce, it would scare you to see this deer in November.

Right now, head shape and base antler mass is what I look for.

Good point. He does have a pretty blunt head. Well time will tell

Neat picture by the way.

Very hard to tell age. He looks like he's got some nice bases. Could be deceiving but the one in the background looks bigger.

thats what the deer here in New Jersey look like when they are in full rut! I miss those massive necks and thick bodies of the midwest!

Nice picture. I'd think he is 3 years max based on this photo. He does have good mass at the basses. I look forward to your fall photos of this a guy. Just when I was sure I new everything a post like this shakes everything up.

I think he is young too. 3 years old max. I have seen quite a few over the last couple weeks that look just like that and they don't even compare to the big ones I have seen.

First glance at the neck and body say young deer, but those bases appear to be very massive. I agree it is very tough to be good at aging deer during this time of the year, they all look scrawny. I'll say he is a 4+ year old based on his antler bases, but at first look I easily might have called him a 2 year old.

I'm going with a two or three year old. No fighting scares from what I can see and he appears to be the ginny pig.

That one in the back, he's the big boy and doesn't want to show his face. He definatly looks bigger from my view. Nice little hole to slide that arrow through as well

Great 2 1/2 yr old he'll be a dandy in 1 or 2 years. I have 3 cameras out as well and definitely feel the excitement coming on!! Here's to the '07 season!!

Cool pic Ghostie, nothing like a little horn to get the juices flowing. Keep them coming.
