Many bow hunters like to fill their freeze with antlerless deer early in the season prior to the rut. I assume the thinking is they don't want to be shooting the does during the seeking/chasing phase of the rut, or during the peak of the rut.
Shooting does in the evening during warm weather has always been a problem for me during the work week. I don't have access to a walk in cooler; therefore I need to process the carcass immediately. On my days off evening hunts aren't a problem since I don't have to get up at 4:00 a.m. and get ready for work.
However, I prefer to harvest my antlerless deer in the mornings. That way I have most of the day to process the animal or get it to a meat processing facility. Unfortunately many lockers aren't open to receiving the meat on Sundays.
