hatfields and mccoys

I barely have any time for TV anymore, but a couple of years ago, I read this:

"The Tale of the Devil: The Biography of Devil Anse Hatfield"

One of my dad's former CO's from Vietnam grew up in Logan, WV and loaned me his copy. GREAT book! If the show is anything like the book, you will love the book.

I watched parts 1 and 2 last night. I thought it was really good. Makes want to do some research on it and see how accurate the show is.

Heard about it! I also hear they have a run every year now?

Edit: That's about the stolen pig right? I've seen the re-run of family feud of the two families trying to win a pig.

It's about factual American history.... And yes, it's really a good show!

Can't wait to buy it so I can watch it without all the dang commercials.

You have to remember, that this American history saga takes place in a different time period. A period of turmoil after the Civil War where the states in the South were trying to find there way, and there was little to no support from corrupt judges and lawmen. I found the series no more full of revenge/hate then I did the Wyatt Earp movies (Tombstone, Wyatt Earp). In fact, the Hatfield/McCoy saga was more factual IMO. I would only put this behind one other American History drama, and that would be the HBO series John Adams. Two thumbs up to the history channel on a great show!

Well said.

I really don't see a problem with anyone watching it. Part of our
history and factual.

So which family do think was more in the wrong, just based on watching this series I'm leaning towards the Hatfields but it's like 51% to 49%. Couple crazy family's.

They signed a peace treaty in 2006, seriously, WTH!

I found myself aligning with the Hatfields for no other reason than they protrayed the McCoy's as a whiny little B******. The Hatfields seemed to have a little more of a Carpe Diem attitude.

I leaned to side with the hatfields as well, just seems like the mccoys took it to far to soon first. And accused a whole family for 1 mans mistake.
