Have you noticed the rain has stopped? After incredible rainfall amounts for southern IA at least for the past months, now the rain has stopped. Heat has moved in. The upper Ridge, that has fried the Southrn Plains and Texas all spring has finally spread it's influence North. Actually has not rained in my part of southern Iowa for 2, going on 3 wks. This could bethe start of a very hot dry period through the rest of the summer.. One extreme following another.

I have noticed that in northern MO, a few places are still getting rain, but we have missed the last few. No alarms yet, but the rain and sure slowed down a lot.

Yeah, I finally got my lawn seeded on the 4th. First time in months it was dry enough to smooth the rain cut gullies and sow the grass seeds. I'm afraid I'm gonna burn out my well pump trying to keep it watered. You can blame the drought of '11 on me. Think I'll hold off on the food plot till I see a better long range forecast.

I watered my fruit trees, washed my truck and left some clothes on the line.......... its gotta rain, food plots need a drink.

We misses all the rains , Had a small area in sw Iowa had cracks a half inch wide in the ground.Had a 3 in rain was about right then maybe 3 one inch rains.Forcast for this week a chance every day !

Fortunately, my biggest food plot is in my back yard and I can reach it with a hose.. had to fill up a 110 gal tank yesterday though and carry 5 gal buckets of water to my apple trees in the timber.. that sucks.. the corn is sure curling up a lot in my area.. bring on the rain!

Well You people from I-80 north sure got a dose this Mon Morn, but south still waiting. We'd better all get something the next few days cause this monster heat dome is really gonna take over at the end of the week!!

Plenty of rain up here that I know some drown out farmers would be glad to share with you...

Got a half inch of rain this morning. First rain for a LONG time. My lawn was burned up and corn was starting to suffer in the sidehills. We'll need a lot more if this heat keeps up. I'm in northern Clayton co.

Ring of Fire weather scenario, typical for mid summer. Last summer the edge of the heat stayed in southern Iowa. This is where the nightime storm complex's form. Was the case thru up to couple of wks ago, but now edge of heat is farther north. The massive heat dome down in Texas and Okl, is moving north. There is a chance for more rain possibly into N Mo. next couple days, better coverage to the north, but then the heat gets really serious and pushes way north, for who knows how long. As a side note I checked out the mountain west states where I spent some time in the past. It can get real hot out there too, but of coarse no humidity, but cool this yr. Temps in the 70s in west WY and Colorado, lows in the 40s! We can dream I guess. Good news is Sept and Oct are coming.

Can we take some cooler air too? I have been up there in Oct when it was still in the upper 90s, but I guess you are doing better this summer.

I hear ya we needed it bad. Hopefully we'll get a few more shots of it this week.

take the rain, but hate the winds

We had 70+ mph winds and 2 inches of rain last night after one of the most uncomfortable weekends of heat/humidity that I can remember in a long time. Coaching and announcing at my son's baseball game and it was really hot...then the storms moved in, looked like a hurricane, lots of damage in our area.
