I live in Illinois and for years now there has been a baiting, feeding, and supplement ban for whitetails. I understand the threat of CWD and am in agreement with whatever actions we can take to help slow the disease. What I don't understand is why are retail stores allowed to sell everything from mineral blocks, powders, feed, etc. It makes absolutely no sense to me that the state would allow it to happen when any average joe to hardcore hunter is going to buy it. They are going to buy it for trail cam pics, thinking they are improving herd quality, and the worse of the bunch baiting for hunting purposes. I would be lying if I didn't say that I have personally bought products in order to improve my chances for better trail cam pics. I have never asked a CPO or any other conservation person to see what they say about it but it has always made me wonder. I am in no way trying to bash anyone who buys whitetail related products. I just wish if it is illegal statewide then no retail stores should be allowed to carry the products. Any thoughts or answers are much appreciated.
