HELP! -Informational Speech for School-

Ok so i have decided on a topic for my informational speech that i will be doing for my public speeking class. My topic is about why deer hunting is important in our society and about the population control......something along those lines. I was looking for information on the car insurance numbers for car deer accidents, the number of deer that are harvested in the Des Moines area during the urban bowhunt, the crop damage numbers the deer have caused, and just information on stuff like that. Thank you guys! I know this is someplace that i can turn to when i need some help with anything along the hunting/management lines!

Here are a few to get you started. Search google for Gent Iowa Department of Transportation- he has written about the deer-vehicle issues. Also look for publications from Brent Danielson and Michael Hubbard on the same topic. You should look for the DOT maps of roadkill- I don't have the links handy but this was covered a while back on this site- so you may want to research the archives here. Willie Suchey with the DNR would be a great person to speak with on this topic. He taught my Stats class in college and is an expert on deer populations and the like.

Maybe talk to some insurance sales men, they could probably get you some numbers, also an idea for another supporting topic approach for your paper could be about how important it is to control wildlife populations for the herds own benefit as well as ours...just a possibility if you need some additional info to make the time limit....I've written numerous papers so if you need any help on content or how to present it...PM me and i'll see what i can do for ya
