It’s in the eyes, you get the sense that’s he’s been and done things you’ll never know, it just goes with the age and the territory. We all know those types of characteristics with certain individuals but you’ve captured it with a lion. The scars only add to confirm his presence and lend to his legacy. Warrior at Rest – Do warriors really rest, only when all their battles are fought. Great Job Larry, I’m a new fan of your work.

that in the initial post I described the old lion as having 'potato ears'. Should have been tattered as in torn not tatered as in potato! Ooops!

serengheti warrior gets my vote. excellent work...diverging from the whitetail world is challenging and takes guts, i think you hit a dinger with this painting.

Thanks again to all who have contributed to this point. Love the creativity and humor. Limb chicken, once I get the original back from the printer it will be on display at the gallery in Ankeny. I'll probably also have it at many of the banquets I will be attending over the next year.
