What in your opinion is the best time of the day to be in your stand? I know...I know, all day will be most of your answers or even the 10-2 timeframe. But I am looking for what time of the day personally do you see the most buck activity. If the answers include all day or the 10-2 timeframe..that's cool, but I was just wondering what your exact thoughts are. We are coming down on Friday and will be hunting 8 days and I know that I can't hunt sun up to sun down all 8 days, so if there was a time period to miss..what would it be?

Thanks,
Xtec

I don't think anyone can give you an answer on this.....

Anything can happen at anytime during the first week of November.

As you already know.....hunt as much as you can.

Xtec - although I could hunt all day if I wanted to, and I have, I mainly hunt for enjoyment and I don't always enjoy sitting in one place for 10-12 straight hours, multiple days in a row either. So I know what you mean.

Rather than saying any particular time, here is what I would let guide me...

If it is super windy, raining hard or the wrong wind, sleep in or take a nap and save your strength. I would make a point of being in a stand as the rain ends though. I have had more success in the afternoons myself, but then I also hunt in the afternoons more. It just seems like I can enter and exit the woods more effectively in the afternoon without spooking deer. Most of my stands are not good morning stands because of bumping deer getting to them.

I have purposely slept in a little and arrived at my stand at around 10:00A and then stay all day with good success. It cuts about 5 hours out of the vigil and although I do not see a lot of deer moving at noon, I have definitely seen some whoppers moving while the noon whistle is blowing and it only takes one!

I have also sat in one stand at daybreak and then moved a couple hundred yards or so to a second stand for the balance of the day and that can break things up a bit too.

i have been seeing alot of deer activity from 4:00 until 6:30 at night and until 11:00 in the morning. in another week though the bigger bucks will probably on there feet more as most of them i have seen at 4:00 are out making scrapes

During the rut when it's cool I'd say in the AM.
Definitely sit all day if you can. Last year I saw 3 GIANT bucks between 10-2 between Nov. 2-8. Good luck.

I like the mid-day hunting, always been good to me and I don't freeze, Getting up early and sitting in a cold stand just got old with me, I hunt to relax and enjoy my time in the field, and I like to sleep in when I ain't working....

As a painter, I have dressed in my whites and gave the wife a kiss good-by and gone hunting coming home in my whites...hehe

It's nice to be your own boss...lol keep that camo in the van.......
