This is a bill that would prohibit anyone in the entire DNR from purchasing condemned/confiscated items.

I understand the proposed law, at least I think I do and I don't necessarily disagree with it, but is there currently a problem with DNR employees or their families purchasing condemned/confiscated items at the same auction we all have access to?

I wonder if there hasn't maybe been a question of things being purchased before they made it to auction. I know that it has happened with typical LE seizures. Might be a precautionary measure.

As it should be. Law Enforcement should not be able to purchase things seized at auction and definitely not before the auction.

I agree that is how it should be. I still maintain that even if the thoughts behind HF 2131, the diversion of funds to the general fund, is along this same train of thought it is misguided.
