Home Burns

That is terrible news. I'm sorry to hear it Doug. I'm glad that you and your family are alright. I can't imagine dealing with that but a strong person like you will get through. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Glad to hear everyone is okay. Tell him to take his time compling lists for the insurance company. I have gone through this and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. Take time to get it right. Happened to me on November 8, 2000 and it changed my life more than I could have imagined.

Best wishes.

I know we all take things for granted. In the event of a tragedy we are reminded of what's REALLY important. Thank the good Lord you and your loved ones are all safe. If you need anything alot of us are just an hour or so away. Don't hesitate. God bless.

Being a career firefighter Ive seen this happen way too many times. Sorry to hear the terrible news my thoughts will be with you and your family.

I can only echo what most have already said - very sorry it happened. Some things seem irreplaceable and that may be the case - photos, keepsakes, taxidermy - but the important thing is you and your family can ALWAYS make more!!!

Much to my wife's dismay, the horns and taxidermy may have been the best survivors of the fire.

My stuff was in the basement. Any ideas on how to remove the smell? With many of our things that is the worst result. I also may need some gun cleaning advice or names and numbers on professional help on gunsmithing/cleaning. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers they are much appreciated. Thanks to all.

Doug, I can only imagine what a setback that must be.

Keep in mind that places like Service Master and other professional cleaners can do wonders in cases like this if the house isnt too damaged structrally. Your insurance company should pick up the bill. Think of it as a little revenge for them attacking your deer herd...

Glad your family is ok, and that your mounts made it through. Sometimes it pays off when the wives relegate our stuff down to the "man cave".

Good luck...

Nicerack,

Sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine what that must be like. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. If you need anything please let us know.

I hope you were able to save some pictures. Alot of stuff is material. Keep us posted on your needs basis and don't be shy to ask for anything. Best wishes.

What a terrible thing to go through, glad nobody was hurt.

There are companies that specialize in smoke damage repair and cleaning. I can't think of any names off the top of my head, but surely there is one in your area.
