Has anyone had the chance to try out the new Hornaday SST sabot? Articles suggest that it does pretty well. I'm shooting Partition Golds now but always looking for better.

Hard little rascals to find tho maybe Cabelas?

Im guessing this is a muzzleloader bullet?If so the TC shockwave is the same bullet.The plastic tip is blue instead of red.They can be found at about any walmart.I shot a doe 3 years ago at 80 yards threw both shoulders.50 hole going in 50 hole coming out.She did drop in her tracks.They are accurate.Dont think they expand near as much as a regular jacket hollow point.Theres a fellow in Canada who has taken black bear and moose withem and they did show jacket seperation in what few he did recover,all the critters did drop fast though.
 
Highly accurate not as much expansion. If your looking for long shots this is your slug. I personally use the Hornady for the extended range. If you want to drop more deer in their tracks at shorter ranges check out the barnes expanders. Both I think are good choices.. /barnesbullets.com/prodmuzzleloader.php
 
Also try the Powerbelts. They seem to be very accurate. They sighted in very well.

I should've mentioned shotgun sabots. Hornaday came out these this year, supposed to be based on their muzzloader sabot. They're saying fastest shot gun sabot going and good groups.

I spoke with a friend tonight who bought some of the shotgun SSTs, and he had shot a 1 3/4" 3-shot group at 100 yards. He has shot a lot of slugs and said they are the best he has tried so far.
 
I'm planning on trying some out. I shoot the partican golds also and love them, but it looks like these SST's may be real tack drivers at longer ranges.
 
I'm shooting barnes 250gr xspander's with 2 triple 7 pellet's out of my encore and I'm shooting 3" group's at 150yd's.I will say this is from a rest,I would never try that shot off handed.I also tryed a few from 200 and they dropped at least 8".I'll have to work up a 150 grain load next year.
 
I also wanted to try the SST's but didn't see them any where close. I will shoot the Partion gold again this year. I really could not believe somebody improved on those Golds. Minus 6 inches at 175 yards with a shot gun is sweet. I have not read anything about the SST's but heard they where zero at 200 yards. Is that right?
 
Very tough to find. I've tried all of my wholesalers and only one carried them but were out. Said when they got some in they were giving like 5 boxes to one store and five to the other. That wasn't going to do me any good. BPS doesn't even carry them yet. I've heard Cabelas had them a couple weeks ago but not sure anymore. We called Hornaday and you have to go through a distributer to get them. They are way, way behind in production. Sounds like like a heck of a slug though. Personally I don't need to be shooting 200yds with a shotgun but to be that tight and 100yds would be nice...
 
Finally scored the SST's haven't tried em yet tho. The fella that sold them to me said some of his customers were keeping on a paper plate everytime at 250 yards. I'm hoping for that kind of performance, be kinda neat to have to carry a rangefinder for shotgun hunting.

I shoot Barnes expanders 300grain, absolutely love them. When put in the vitals they leave a blood trail a blind man could follow. When you're off by a bit as I was this year they completely smash whatever they hit, dropping the deer in their tracks. I've tried Hornady's, Remington Sabots, Powerbelts, T/C shockwaves. When hunting the big timber up here I'll never shoot anything again but Barnes.
