hornady slugs

Well beens they are new this year from what I have been reading, probably not many have used unless they bought just to try out. They are a Sabot slug and are suppose to be used with Rifled barrells per caption on link you provided. They are cheaper then my Remington copper solids so I will be giving them a try!

I saw the ad in a magazine and special ordered 10 boxes. I used them last year and shot 2 deer with them. They are incredibly accurate I practiced out to 200 yards (did not shoot deer at that range). Both deer were within 75 yards hit right where I wanted. Now the bad... I found them to not have the knock down power that I would expect with a shotgun, both deer were hit in the vitals and ran quite far 100 yards+. The sabots are small in diameter and seem to have very little expansion entrance and exit hole is the same size.

That being said I would not be afraid to use them again, like I said they are spot on accurate. I just like to find my deer within sight of where I shot it.

This year I plan to switch to Federal Premium Vital-shok with Barnes expanders...The barnes sabots are very popular with the muzzleloader crowd I think you would really like the way these perform.

Alan if you want to see more about the barnes sabot go to this site and enter the info for slugs as follows:
Federal

Firearm - Slug
Caliber - What you use 12/20?
Use - Large, Heavy game
Bullet - Barnes Sabot

Used them last year and will continue to, they shoot very good for me. Heard of some fellas that were keeping them on a paper plate every shot at 250 yards.
A friend used them last year and was concerned that they generally took more than one to keep a deer down, he felt expansion wasn't what he thought it needed to be.

AGS

I put a heart shot on a deer at 165 yards with a hornady last year. It took about two steps and expired. It was a nice way to fill my last antlerless tag, and I would recommend these slugs to anyone with a fully rifled barrel. I spent a bundle getting the gun sighted in with them though. They are quite pricey.

I have heard good things about them. Thought about trying them last year, but couldn't get ahold of any. I've been shooting winchester partition golds through my rifled barrel for 3yrs and have shot 2 at or beyond 100yrds and they drop in there tracks. First year cost me $50 to sight it in (ouch) but I've only had to put a couple through a year just to check it since. Worth the money.
