Horns vs. Antlers - FYI

It is my understanding that there is a distict difference between horns and antlers. Horns continue to grow year after year, whereas, antlers are shed. For example, sheep and cows (and cars) have horns; whitetail and mule deer have antlers. I find it amazing that many professional outdoor writers and T.V. Hunting programs continue to misuse those two words. P.S. - I'm only anal about things like this, when it comes to deer hunting.

YEA!!! Does a guy shoot a bow or the arrow.That gets me some times when guys say,ya want to go shoot your bow.Or "lets go bow hunting".Hey you all can go bowhunting ,I'll go DEER HUNTING.HA! HA!

So, is it shooting a bullet or shooting the gun? I'm getting all confused here! So is a skin head and a smoothy still the same or not? I'll try harder not to mix terms.
