House File 191 is a proposed bill prohibiting the use of artificial light on wildlife for
hunting or recreational purposes.

In layman’s terms this bill would:

Prohibits the use of spotlights, headlights, or
other artificial light to spot, locate, take or attempt to
take, or hunt a bird or animal, except raccoons or other
fur=bearing animals when treed with the aid of dogs.
Currently the use of artificial light in such a manner is
prohibited only when the light is used by a person or group of
persons that is also in possession of a weapon or device to
kill or take the bird or animal.

With 48 total votes so far I must say that I am somewhat surprised at how close this poll is???????
 
I guess it wouldn't bother me if they outlawed it. I know it is not going to stop some people, but when the DNR gets a call, they don't have to wonder if it is just people out looking or if it is someone out doing something that they are not supposed to.
 
ill be honest, not that my opinion matters, but i could see spotlighting as an important scouting tool, or even gathering a buck inventory.....
if you are not poaching, how is that different from running trail cameras at night....
without a gun you are just looking,..... whats the harm

however, i can see the point to removing the temptation poaching.....
but either way....
 
I disagree with this bill.I go camping all summer long and one of the things me and the kids do is go spotlighting.Just good clean fun except for the fight who is going to run the light. When one of the boys brings a freind from town who doesn't get out in country they have more fun than playing vedio games. They should look at maybe doing this during hunting season.
 
It always shocks me when people are willing to give up their privileges because some people abuse them. Amazing.
