How in the world can I keep my feet warm!?????

I wear 800 gram boots all year and do fine with them. One thing I do to make this work though is like others have said, wear a good liner sock with a merino wool sock. Merino wool is very warm and also wicks away sweat. LaCrosse sells felt soles that you can put into your boots as well, which increases the warmth quite a bit in my opinion. The felt liners are under $10, so a good investment.

Merino wool socks. Expensive, but worth it. I wear Burly 800's and do okay all the way through muzzy season...

I wear Mickey's also......late in the season when the temps are in the 20's. Very warm, but a very big boot also. If you buy Mickey's be sure the air bladder does not leak.

I have cold feet issues also and the boot blanket worked for me. The key is to put it on right away when you get to your stand and your feet are warm from walking. If your feet are cold when you put them on, they stay cold....at least that is what I have experienced with them.

the air valve on the mickey mouse boots are to regulate air pressure in airplanes, nothing to mess with unless you are doing paratrooper duty.

when i worked at goodyear, the service manager SWORE by those boots. coming from a guy that got called out at all hours drurring the worst weather, for no telling how long at a time, i was impressed with his testimonial. i've always wanted to try a pair out, just haven't pulled the trigger yet

Are the boot blankets ment to be used withOUT boots? I have a pair (which arent out of the package yet) but I thought I slipped them on over my boots?

Pretty sure you're supposed to slip them over your boots. They are meant to trap the heat in after its generated. Like some said above, if your feet are cold when you put them on they won't do much. They are meant to trap the heat in that is generated from walking to stand.

T,

The air bladders must serve two purposes then.
That dead space of air is what makes the Mickeys insulate better than other boots. Otherwise you'd just have an insulated heavy boot like so many others. Air is a great insulator, one of the reasons wool is so warm, wool fibres trap air.

I've used battery heated socks in the past with good luck. I didn't have them last year and regretted it a few hunts during late muzzy. I always wear a sock liner or thin pair of wool socks under them. Make sure you don't put the battery in until you get to your stand or you're feet will be soaked in sweat.
