Had we not tracked that day he very well may have been in the first bed at 250ish yards. We found him within 100 yards of where we ended our tracking, so almost certain we bumped him to that location the night of tracking. Crazy tough critters!
I did this 1 time also. Lesson learned for me. Like you said he would have been dead the next day and either way unfortunately the meat was going to be spoiled. Glad you got your closure on that monster!!
