How long due the rest of you muzzleloader hunters leave your powder in the gun before worrying it might become damp? I leave the gun in the truck so that it does not collect moisture when bringing it in the house but still wonder how the powders doing in the gun.
I leave mine in the garage and never had a problem. But last year in AK I decided to check it and the pellets were wet. Not from the cold but from rain. I'm a bit paranoid after that and replace the powder after 2 or 3 days. Normally if the gun stays in the cold you should not have any problems.
Unless I suspect that our guns took on some moisture, I don't swap ours out. We keep them in the truck, and don't ever bring them inside, so they don't go through the temp changes and start to sweat. It's worked very well in the past.
