How much rain?

Just another update. Saturday evening from 4:15 till 5:30 I got just over 3 inches. I didn't get the wind damage that they did in and around Ottumwa but the wind did blow. Had the camper over at Rathbun and was worried but no damage there either. We had a great day on the lake on Sunday.

Bowmaker - IIRC, you are near Floris, my farm is near Selma, so only a few miles apart. The weather site I looked at said 1.00". Do you think the site was that far off OR was the rain that spotty? It would seem to me that if you had 3", then I should have something close to that.

:(northeast cedar county .40. you could of mowed lawn a half hour after it rained. oh wait a minute, what lawn?

My neighbor,,to the NE,,North of Eldon a bit said he got 2 1/2,,so I am sure Selma got similar between Floris and Eldon. We were blessed this time,,next time may be different. I sure know how it feels to get the short end of the rain stick too. Rainfall will be at a premium all this growing season, everywhere I am afraid. The weather patterns jumped right into late July, Aug, pattern early. This big dome of hot air is going to blugeon us all summer. The consistent benifactors of rain will be North. The radar estimates I have found to be somewhat falty,,either overdoing it or underdoing it.

Loneranger, you sure are a Debbie downer when it comes to the weather ;)
We got 2" in lee county, crops are looking great around me.

I agree with you on the radar estimates. Lately Ive got more than they show. The area has 12 months of very dry weather, before last weekend we were sitting at about 12" since the rains ccut off last late june. Those fri sat storms saved us. We have been some timely rains that just get us by. I expect that to continue. We average over an inch per week April-August dont see that happening this summer.

Daver, I am on the other side of the river from Selma just about 4 miles if you take the dirt road up over the big hill or go on up river to Jeddy Carter hill. My son now lives in Douds and he got just a little more total rain than I did. I don't know where you are from Selma but you could not have missed either the rain Friday evening or Saturday. Hotter than blazes now and windy that is sucking the moisture right out of the ground. Even with all that rain you can still see the riffles above the river bridge at Eldon, so the river didn't raise very much at all so I guess most of the rain just soaked in which is good.
