Howdy From Da UP!

YoopHunter

Visitor from The North
Hello Everyone: Been visiting your site for a while and decided to join. Live in Marquette County here in the beautiful Upper Peninsula where I enjoy every opportunity for hunting deer, bear, & turkey, fishing, shooting, camping, canoeing, mountain biking and cross country skiing with family and friends. Built a small log cabin on our 40 up in Houghton Co with the help of my son, wife and some good friends back in '05 - a remote area where it's easy to get off the grid when needed...

Lots of good info on here and helpful folks it seems. Hope to visit NE Iowa with my brother some day for deer hunting, probably late season muzzleloader so it'll feel more like home

If anyone's planning on visiting the UP and needs some info or advice, I'll be glad to help if I can!

Welcome to the site. My step-grandparents have had a cabin just outside of Munising for quite a few years and they finally just moved up there within the last year.. It's a pretty good time up there snowmobiling!

Beautiful country. Spent a fall in Iron Mountain, Escanaba, Marquette, Ishpiming, Copper Harbor and several other towns I can't remember.

Welcome to the site eh?

Did they ever put in the underground antennas for submarine communications?

Welcome to IWT Yooper.

Careful around Fishbonker. He's somewhat of a skitsophrenic, bi-polar, dislexia kind of guy with a touch of paranoia. Other than that he's OK.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone.

That's Project ELF; they pulled the plug on that in the early 90's I believe.

We still occasionally see some goofy looking mutated critters though, and it also might account for some of the locals...;)

Glad to have ya! i have always wanted to catch some muskies up there.....

I believe it was called Project Sanguin when we were up there doing the mapping of the western and central UP.

See moosey, I'm not always FOS, but we did watch the submarine races at Green valley and McKinley Lakes in Creston back in the day. Funny how the subs never came out during daylight. One guy even claimed he was abducted by the subs and "probed". We never believed him. About the abduction part. It was our popular beliefe they were DNR subs that were full of mouintain lions.

Now that I can believe since the IDNR is using those black helicopters too dump those cats around Marengo and whatnot.......

Hey Yoophunter, I spend a lot of time just a bit south of you in the Trenary/Rock area. Awesome area with a lot of untouched wilderness!
