Sat this pm. Pretty slow in my neck of the woods. This particular property usually sees deer coming from an adjacent timber to the north at night time. Well just shortly after I got there, the landowner to the north decided to do some driving around in that timber......he pulled something out behind his jeep the first trip then went back in. Needless to say I didn't see any deer on that side of the field. To the south of me, I had a flock of about 20 turkeys I was able to watch from a distance. Thinking about getting a turkey tag just in case. Then before dark a little fork and 2 year old 8 started working through a field to the west. Two does also came out in the field to my south and I tried to put the sneak on them. Closed the distance from about 150 yards down to 80 and they spotted me. Surprised I got that close since I didn't have anything to hide behind. Pretty slow, but better than many other things I could have been doing!

Sat tonight in the rain and wind! First time out this year. Saw several does and 1 decent eight...he got the pass, but after he went by I second guessed his size! Movement was great and the rain and wind had zero affect.

Sat 10/8 in the AM and didn't see a deer. The beans around the farm were all harvested so I'm not sure what happened. When to a new set and saw 2 bucks square off for a little bit. Got some of it on camera. Also saw a few does but passed on them as it was a long drag by myself. Went tonite and I wasn't in the stand 5 minutes and saw a monster chasing a doe. Now I'm not sure if it was chasing or just following. I'm sure he was just following. I'm not a firm believer that the rut ever comes early, as it usually happens around the same 2 weeks of the year. Had a run in with roughly 20 turkeys which is nice to see. There were a lot of deer out and about as we drove to the land we were hunting. It was a beautiful evening to be hunting.

Went out last night and saw 17 does and 2 bucks one nice 2.5 year old 9 point and a little 8. That little weather front that moved through yesterday afternoon seemed to have the deer moving pretty early all in all a pretty good night.

Did a really quick sit this morning before work. I wouldn't have gone except I needed to get my trail cam back out in this spot to keep an eye on daytime movement. Saw 5 does by 7:15 and had to climb down at about 8. As it happens all too often, I just get off the stand and about 3 rungs down when I see 2 does at about 100 yards watching me. I continued down slowly and they got curious and started coming towards me. I wasn't really intending to shoot a doe this morning but thought hey if they're that dumb then they deserve an arrow right? Anyway, one got to 40 yards, turned broadside and I let it rip. Bow string hit my coat and produced a clean MISS for me.....oh well. Worst part was I couldn't find my arrow. Very very nice morning though clear and calm!

It didn't seem like the movement was all that great this morning. I expected to see a lot of deer out considering this morning was so cool, if not the coldest morning this fall. I drove around some this morning after work. Didn't see a single deer. Maybe some of you who went out hunting can chime in.

Out tonight, very little movement...a couple basket eight racks and a gazillion turkeys at last light. Peaceful night in the woods.

Say last night in freshly picked field and saw two does in that one. But field next to me I saw 8 does one four point and a monster buck from 300 yards. But it was a very slow night saw the first deer at 5
