Hunter Education Certificate

Ive been trying to get my Brother-in-law out Deer hunting with Me. He lives in CR over off Mt Veron Road and sees deer in his backyard regularly. My brother-in-law is a US Citizen now, been living in Iowa for 11 years (origionally from Mexico). He was born in 1975. I see by the regs that he must attend a hunter education course in or have a certificate from another state/or foreign nation. Looks like there is a course up in Waterloo that he could go to Nov 8 or 9 in Waterloo. He had done quite a bit of hunting when he lived in Mexico, so I am curious as to what kind of certificate he might be able to get from Mexico to satisfy this training?

A 1 day training session is a small amount of time compared to how much time one would spend in the field, however my Brother-in-law is super busy at work and not sure if he can make this training session.

Any help would be appreciated.

I dont know anything about foreign classes crossing over to the U.S. Those classes usually fill up really fast though. I would be surprised if they still have any openings. Better hurry and sign up.

Hey I hunt around there too. What he can to is what I had my wife do. The DNR allows you to do all of your classwork on line and then you just print off all the "pre-tests" with 100% passing score and bring them to a 4 hour class one day. They have you take a test as soon as you get there then you shoot and take one more. From what she said it was mainly the same stuff. If he knows the diffrence between a shotgun rifle and handgun and can name the parts on it he is golden. But if he is really busy with work then how is he gonna have time to whack the field rats? Guess I will just have to take a few extra out with the car on my way home.
