Hunter's doe

My son Hunter spent the first several sits of the youth season passing numerous smaller bucks in hopes of getting a chance at something wall-worthy. Nothing has shown yet, so Saturday night he decided to take the edge off and fill a landowner depredation antlerless tag. We got decent footage of the entire event, and if I knew how to upload it I would

We waited a short while after he shot her and were able to get just the perfect lighting for a fading sunset picture...thought it turned out pretty nice.

Ok, this is a story from Hunter. We had been hunting for a couple weekends, and had several close calls. One morning, we all had several come in within about 10 yards of the blind. Some small bucks, some does. And as my dad said earlier, I was holding out for the big buck. We just didn't see it, so finally we went out one night with the idea that if there was a doe, I would shoot it. Then, if we knew she was dead, we would reload and wait for a buck to come out, if it did. And we sat for about a couple hours before we saw anything. and we saw this doe and two fawns come out, and we decided that if she decided to come closer and out past the beans I would shoot her. Sure enough, she came out and gave me a perfect shot. I took it, and we knew she was hit. In the video, my dad did a bad job of following the deer, because he was watching the deer with his eyes. He saw her run into this lane and out of sight. We had about 40 minutes of daylight left, so we decided to sit for a while to let her die, then go look for her. Fifteen minutes passed, and we got out and started looking for blood. Strangely, we never found a single drop of blood. We decided that we would do a body search. Since we knew she went in the lane, we looked there. After about five minutes of searching we found her. So that's what happened, and I really enjoyed shooting this doe.
