BIGBUCKDOWN!!

Has anyone ever purchased hunting liability insurance to cover either people that rent their land or to list the landowner in which they are renting from as additional insured? If so, can you please get a hold of me at millcreekdecoys@yahoo.com and get me some details on what you did and who you purchased the policy from.

Greatly appreciated..

Its really sad hunting has come to that!

That's what I was thinking.

In Iowa I believe the landowner is only liable if he is recieving money for the hunting priveledges allowed.

Thanks Ghost....you are the man!
Been seeing any nice bucks this month??

I was told that as a landowner, even if you have your land posted, if someone tresspasses and gets hurt you are liable. I have insurance on my ground just like my home. I am not sure of the specifics and it isn't expensive. It is however sad that some idiot can tresspass on your land, get hurt, and sue you and win. Seems like the laws seem to protect the lawbreakers sometimes. I had to have insurance in case the guy that was farming it at the time got hurt too.

I agree with RV Boy. I had read in the Iowa Code (can't remember the specific section) that landowners granting access to their ground for recreational activities were held harmless if no financial consideration (i.e. cash) was received. Has something change in the last couple years or is it another one of the "great benefits" of our sue-happy society.
