I dont know about the rest of you, but I know I have had enough of the arguing and bickering. I was on this site the first year it came around, and have been here since. It has always been the top of the line place to come and ask advice to all of us good hunters. It sure seems lately that a lot of people show up and stir the pot. I get sick of reading post after post of nonsense. And dont say dont read those posts, because it turns into every post lately. I love to just look at big deer, look at sheds, talk about hunting, but lately, none of that gets done. We have a wide range of people on this site, and some of the finest and most knowledgable people that I know. I respect them, and hope that most respect me. I guess I really have no point to this topic, other than lets settle down a bit on this site. Its not a place to come and argue. Lets keep it to what its for, helping everyone achieve there best in the woods, whether it be deer, turkey, duck or goose hunting. Most of all, be respectful. If you have nothing good to say, dont say it. Have a good day...and if anyone is curious, I am 23..I know age was brought up in other topics, saying that people must be young. yes, we do have young people on this site, but some of us young people are far mature past our age. have a good day, hopefully no one is offended, and lets keep this site a great place to sit and talk about the outdoors...
 
Flugge, unfortunately, it usually heats up this way every year after the late seasons end. I'm not defending the bickering - I've just been here long enough to see the pattern. I do want to say the the moderators have been doing a great job of shutting down the tasteless and out-of-control posts. . . and the posters responsible. Free speech does require some common sense, and a few on this site could use more of it. One other thing to notice. The people who have been on this site for awhile - the ones who have earned the respect of others - rarely bite on the inflammatory posts. Those who like to stir the pot are usually short-timers here. I've seen a lot of people come and go on this site.

Just over a month ago, my daughter was involved in a bad accident on I-80, near Iowa City. I couldn't get there to be with her because of the snowstorm, and it about tore my heart out of my chest. (She is doing fine now, and is mending nicely). The reason I mention this is because on that day and the days that followed, I knew that deer hunting, NR arguments, shed hunting, and all other things like it were just that . . . things. They may be important, but they are not the MOST important things. I watch people, and I usually have a pretty good handle on what is important to them. Without exception, the people on this site who I respect the most are deer hunters with a passion, but they understand that it isn't life. It's just a fringe benefit.

So, if any of you want to come to this site, and get into online scraps, that's your business. It will be dealt with as needed. But before you trash someone, or what they do or stand for . . . please ask yourself if you would say the same things if that person were standing in front of you. And if the answer is 'no', then think about what your message says before you hit the 'submit' button.
 
I have to say, I kind of got a kick out of it, but I do have a strange sense of humor. It does appear to have turned the corner and has been minimized.

As a moderator, I'd like to say that most on this site are fine, outstanding people. As allways though, there will be a few that have the ability to upset the flow of things. If ignored, these people will usually fade into obscurity. That's all it takes.
I do sincerely appreciate all the P.M.'s I receive thanking us for the job we do. Thanks again.
Here's something to think about....
One of the most outrageous statements I hear is.."it's a public forum, I can say what I like".... Well folks, here's the facts.
The public is invited to sign up and join this forum by the owner/owners. They pay for the band width to run this forum. That means it's their site to run how they want. They have intrusted us, the moderators, to oversee their investment and keep the wheels moving freely. Some moderators are more tolerant of stuff than others, but sooner or later, if you mess up continually, you are gone. No debating, no vote, just doing what's best for the site and the owners.
So the short end of it is, you were asked to join, but if you continue to upset to harmony of the site, you will be gone.
I've been here quite some time and have made a lot of friends that have my back at all times, as I do theirs. Hadn't really made any enemies until a few months ago. That's ok though. The numerous lifetime friendships, far outweigh the few enemies that won't be around long anyway.
 
Will the cold and snow ever leave so I can get the heck out of the house. My wife is sick of me. I'm guilty of biting back and after an hour a guy feels guilty but by then it to late. Can't wait for the turkey season.
 
I will admit that I did get into it on the site yesterday with an individual that will remain nameless. I appoligize if I offended anyone. That was not my intent. I felt that someone was out of line and atacking the site and the mods unjustly. I tried to state my opinion if an articulate and polite manner that was not met with the same. Once again, if i offended anyone, i apoligize.

Flugge, i understand you frustration. As long as i have been coming here this site has been an absolute wealth of great individuals and information. I am on this site religiously and have noticed the mood has changed as of late. Hopefully turkey season will take the edge off a little. I think there is a lot of cabin fever going around.

Mods, Keep up the great work. I don't know what i would do all day at work if the site was not here!!!!
 
Shovelbuck made a great point. This does seem to be an annual pattern and usually fades with the onset of spring turkey season.

We appreciate the input and the problems do get discussed among the moderators and administrators. Thanks for sticking with us and as the above moderators have said, things will be better with time.

did I miss something, I dont think it was getting that bad around here. Although this is nothing compared to other sites I visit. Namely IO, that site is horrible, constant bickering. I did notice the change in attitude around here, and that change, I believe, has centered around one new member. I think some spring cleaning will be done and we will be back to normal around here.
 
A little friendly disagreement makes for interesting dicsussion. New/potential legislation and winter weather would have to be contributors this time of year. It's a matter of perspective and in the end it's as CamoMan summed it up, there are more important things in life and unfortunately sometimes we need to be reminded of that. This should be a lot easier to control than a one on one conversation, think before you use the keyboard. Having said that, I was on a predator hunters forum the other day and one individual called the other one out. He PM'd him his home address to settle things...
 
Everybody is gay but me........that is the attitude I have about it........I am obviously being sarcastic. Like what was said earlier you do not have to respond to somebody upsetting you. I know when I post something I cant wait to see what people respond to it and I am sure most people are the same way. If somebody post something just to get a bad reaction out of other people just think how less often they would do it if they never got a response. We just have to bite our lips and not say anything back. Pretty soon we will all be in mushroom and turkey heaven anyway so just sit back and relax.

its one thing to post a differing opinion, but its these posts that are being put up, that are nowhere near the topic at hand, and are just some stupid comment, whose sole purposed is to get people riled up and post more stupid comments.

i think, if this continues, the mods are going to have to start taking a heavier hand in pulling posts and maybe even kicking some people off. no 2 week suspensions, no letting them sneak back in under a new name. this crap is dragging the site down, and we are getting less posts from quality members, who actually bring something to the board

I cant get enough of this site, i care an awful lot about what i learn here and most of all the great friends i have made since i joined!

I have read alot of post that makes people bite back. Ill take no part in that junk. As far as what time of year it is , is no excuse.Treat people the same way you would want to be treated. Respect for others is what I was taught.People that run there mouths and brag all the time I have no time for.There is a few people on this site that I will never respond to there post. one thing I do know This is the best whitetail site out there.All we have to do now is remove the bad apples. Just food for thought.And many thanks to all the mods. Job well done.
