I have a question

Well i rattled in a 5 point today and he had black tips on his horns. What could this be from?

Could it possibly be that his velvet had not come off of the tips and that's what you were seeing?

Yeah all the velvet is off of his horns. His antlers are bright but the tips are black. I didnt know what it was so i thought i would ask here!
