I need your help!

I have a favor to ask of everyone on here..this summer my brother and I were taking on the project of mounting bow our bow deer from last year, my buck and his doe. These aren't the first deer mounts we've done so we were pretty excited to see how they would turn out, we had pretty high hopes! We were just about ready to put the capes on the forms and get into the fun part of mounting BUT yesterday we went to the garage where the capes were dripping out and it was WARM in there.

To make a long story short we tried all we could to salvage the capes but the weather got too warm on us and us not thinking about them being in our warm muggy basement garage..the hair all slipped off. Bacteria was starting to grow on the capes and there was no saving them, oh well, nothing we can do now.

Here is where we could use your guys and gals help, we are starting to call around to local taxidermist that we know and we are just asking if you guys could either give us the phone number or a way to contact your local taxidermist to see if they have any extra capes around. If you could that would make my summer! Thanks for the help!

Stuffy on the website here is a taxidermist in Lone Tree, IA. I don't know if he will have any capes around this time of year but give him a shot (PM him and he will usually answer you in a day or two).

Like someone said before, you can always find good capes on e-bay for about $60-70 for a medium size buck. Once and a while they have doe capes and they sell very cheap, onetime I saw one go for $5.00. But for next year I suggest you go to a local butcher where they process deer during season. I was able to pay by the box of capes really cheap.

Call Leonard Taxidermy in Correctionville. He had a couple last time I talked to him. He may be able to help.

Sorry, the only spares I have, I will need. Even a couple a guys up your way, do not have any,(Darin Brincks,Washburn, and Greg Cuvalier,Aplington). You could even try www.taxidermy.net, look on the "For Sale" link.

Thanks guys!! I have checked out ebay and there are quite a few on there, I just got done checking taxidermy.net and there are tons on there and I sent a couple emails out and might have some spotted from there, then tommorow I am going to call Leonard's Taxidermy! I should be able to hunt down a nice big buck cape! Thanks again, I really appreciate it!!
