If you're not a resident of Iowa, your a non resident. Simple. As a non res, I've been in line for a tag for 5 years. Giving away 500 non resident tags to a "special" group of non residents just sucks. Waiting in line for 5 years , and then someone cuts straight in sucks. And that will be year after year. Then what? A non res has to wait 7 or 8 years and longer now??? I'm already to the point where after giving Iowa money for 20 years, I'm done. I'm getting my 5th tag, and never gonna apply again.

But…. If selling out to special interests & selling our residents & states out is the norm…. I’m no Republican. Politicians like Klimesh, Driscoll, Zaun, Rozenboob, etc, etc- I’d never vote for these folks. Primary or Dem opponent…. Someone who works for the people & not a sell out. The reason we have so many awful bills this year- Republican super majority. If we lose a few of the bad ones- I personally am all for it. If Republicans want to maintain large majorities they need to earn it. Not sell us out. There’s a HANDFUL selling us out. We will be better off without them & R’s could primary them or vote for D that supports the people. Selling out the state of iowa & ruining our resource is NOT an option. PERIOD. Time for the few hacks who won’t represent the citizens to go.

I'd imagine so, it would be similar to the Nebraska elk draw situation I'm familiar with- there's a general (resident) draw and a landowner (and family) draw because there is more demand than there are permits for both.

It should be noted that both of the IA legislators mentioned above, Driscoll & Zaun, are republicans.

Politics goes beyond hunting. I would not vote for a hunting supporting Dem if other important issues don’t align with the big picture. As a voter you’re ignoring more important issues in lieu of a special interest, hunting. To label a politician a sellout over one topic is disingenuous.

Here’s REALITY FOLKS…, “500 tags”. They want u to say “no big deal”. (Even though it’s a pure sell out move that by definition hurts residents and I’d argue hurts more than 500 Residents they will displace as these farms will be shut down for access)…. &!!!!…. Screws NR’s who have been waiting in line!!!! REALITY!!!…
NEXT YEAR - this will relaunch the original bill that will be a blanket “every LO gets folks who identify as fam members tags”. It’s in tens of thousands. This also will relaunch the Bill that would RUIN IOWA…. “Every landowner gets tags to auction off to highest bidder”. (& that’s up to 75,000 tags vs the 6,000 NR’s hunting now). This is 100% a 1 year stepping stone. This is stage 1 cancer we need to catch before it grows to stage 4 in ONE YEAR. This has to be caught now. MUST BE KILLED. This bill could literally lead a path - VERY QUICKLY - to the ruination of iowa!!! Must die & stay dead!!!

I understand that view. I really do. Hunting is not most important issue in life or our state. But it’s dang important & if they sell us out here- where else are we losing BIG TIME?!?!? SOLUTION: PRIMARY!!!!!!! Or …. Donate enough to them so we own them
. We wouldn’t do that of course but that’s the sick reality!! On other side: if 2-4 of them lost because they are sell out hacks that are not representing the people, R’s still have majority. These sell outs need to change or go. Status quo for these few swamp rats is not ok.
