Ignorant People

I don't go to UNI, I switched majors from UIU and am finishing up at Hawkeye, which has alot of people who hunt at it. Diesel mechanics, natural resources, and criminal justice majors as opposed to business and teaching majors. Can't wait until spring gets here and I'm bringin stringers of walleyes and northern to clean on my tailgate. That should draw some looks

I wouldn't add fuel to the fire, but just let them know you really don't care what they think. If they say anything else, I would ask them how their pork/beef/chicken implanted with artificial hormones and additives taste? The only hormone free food is the wild stuff. Then tell them you are a hunter but would rather be called the PC term of Population Control Specialist. I used this several times in college. Remember most hunters are more in tuned to nature than any Hippy Lettuce smoking tree huggers could ever hope to be.

Post this on their door. :drink2:

Cody, Your a hick and Jacks Manor is too upscale for you. Just admit it.
Nick, I am very much a hick, and Jacks Manor is too upscale for me, thats why I live in the jenky apartments on Olive Street. I hope you were one of the idiots heading to the bars during UNI's homecoming that was throwing beer bottles on my front porch, but I even more so hope that you were one of the ones who faceplanted on the way back by tripping over my next door neighbor's strategically placed fishing line.

Next time I see them, I don't know whether to just bluntly tell them I'm not crazy and they have nothing to worry about, or just start having twitches and pretending like I'm crazy. Any opinions?

Just be yourself and don't worry about them or what they have to say.
Most colleges not just UNI have their share of people that hate hunting.
You have a right to do it and I would ignore them.

Don't categorize everyone their as being liberal. I work their and have two or three buddies that are whitetail and outdoor fanatics.
Good luck this season.

Most UNI profs and many many organizations on campus lean way left.. its sickening listening to some of the things that these idiots say.

I go to ISU and I am an ag major. The difference between the ag professors and other professors is hilarious. A lot of the ag professors will, from time to time ask how hunting is going and if anyone has been successful. Other professors, like the one who taught me philosophy morals and ethics always related everything to animal rights and my Econ teacher preached his liberal mindset everyday while he was running for office. Its almost sickening but definitely a culture shock from back home. From talking to my friends at the other 2 big universities, I picked the right one to go to for my interests.

I sure hope you use this opportunity to show these people that hunters don't fit the stereotypes they have of them. An "in your face" attitude may make you feel good and be within your rights, but wouldn't be in hunting's best interest. Maybe you can't change anybody's views, but how much better to have one person say to their anti-hunting friends," You know, that guy back at UNI that hunted was really a nice guy."

The best thing to do I've found is whenever the opportunity comes is to give speeches, or write papers on my views; the comments are usually priceless, and always makes for a good debate.

Agree 100%. When the old wise one speaks, you should listen! Well said TR

Exactly what I was thinking. What we need is more people who understand hunting and will not vote against it. Not people who are ignorant. This is your chance to remove their ignorance in a positive way.

Nicely said.

Not trying to start anything but you sure can tell the older from
the younger hunters by this post.

I will either go to ISU or the University of Iowa, maybe Texas :p But, I sure hope nothing like this happens to me. I'll be going to farm house if I'm in ISU :)
