Hello,

Wanted to give you guys a heads-up on a great show in central Illinois. I have been to it for several years running and it just gets better every year. Looks like they have a great food plot seminar lined up. There will be 100s and 100s of big buck mounts on display and all of the latest must haves... All and all and excellent show!

Bloomington is a great town with lots of good eats. An easy 3hr drive from the Iowa City area.

La Bamba = Burritos as BIG as your head (chicken and pork rules). (~7-8 bux/ w drink)

Boo Boo's Dawg House, Chicago style hotdogs. The Italian beef is outstanding. Ask for it dipped with hot pepers, excellent fries. (~ 6-7 buxs)

Jim's Steak house = The large filet w/ the Brittany dressing (bacon) for your salad. Ask for the dressing on the side, they'll bring a bucket of it : )

Long Horn Smokehouse= Smoked brisket with all the sides. Be careful with their hot BBQ sauce, it gets a little on the hurtful side, little goes a long ways..... Never had anything but an excellent meal here. ~10 bux, large amount of food, great hot corn bread and scalloped tatars, beans to go with that.

Mugsy's Bar and Grill= Best hot wings on the planet, bar none size and flavor! Order Qt. 24 "hot", they are perfect heat wise. (~10 buxs) Make sure you wash that down with a pitch of your favorite... The wings are a must have with every trip to see the in-laws, the alcohol helps too... : )

Park View Inn, best breakfast in town, Eggs, bacon ham or sausage, hashbrowns and toast. Choice of pancakes or 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy with that too. (Go with the ham and B&G) Huge portions and coffee for approx 5 buxs. Don't let the neighbor hood scare you...... It's a small unknown place. : )

Let me know if your around, I'll be roaming the floor on Sat. I'll be the one wearing the camo ball hat... lol

I always went when it was in Peoria, the in-laws live there and it was a good excuse to get out of the house, but have not been since it moved.Always thought it was a good show.

Good show, a bunch of amazing mounts just like the IA show, I actually think IA is better but to enjoy the mix of deer and turkey stuff. I have been every year for about the last 7 or 8, I do have to admit I was a little disappointed with the amount of junk there last year (as far as non-deer and non-turkey and non-outdoors related). However, I will keep on going just to see some good seminars and awesome bucks

You forgot Hooters and an awesome chinese place that is next to hooters! Anyhow, it is a pretty good show. I think this year though I am going to check out the Iowa classic just to try to meet some people from this site.

minnesota is having one in owatonna too. i thought about trying to fill a car and going up to that, about 4 hours from des moines

Ahhh yes, the Chinese place would be Ming’s, and it is fantastic. As far as Hooters, you’d throw rocks at the wings after having Mugsy's. I suspect that is only 50% of the equation though… : )

I really thought there maybe more interest in the IL show.

When is the Iowa one happening? Des Moines correct? Look forward to meeting a few of you addicts… Jody
