Well a heck of a week for me. After harvesting my IN deer I took a few days off then headed to Illinois.
Had an awesome morning hunt that was packed with action from the time I sat down in the stand. Had continuous buck movement with not more than 10minutes of not seeing deer. At about 8:00 I had a stud 3 year old 8 chase a doe right to me and had that feeling that it was going to be a very good day.
3 year old 8

Looking forward to seeing what he turns into over the next 2 years.
The action continued to be furious with Buck after Buck showing up, bird dogging, chasing and cruising. In all, 13 different bucks showed up. Number 13 came in hot and I instantly said shooter and grabbed the bow. As he made his way down the ridge he stopped to smell where a doe had just left a bed a few minutes before. He made a fatal mistake and turned right and headed into a 12yd lane. I sent the MegaMeat on its way and it found its mark. The buck gave a mule kick and trotted 10 yards and just stood there I could see the hole pumping blood and knew he was done! He trotted slowly another 20yds and just looked around oblivious to the fact he had been shot. He walked slowly and then crashed!!!
I called my brother and told him what happened and then suggested he come over and jump in the stand I was in with all the action I was having. About 10:00 he made it to the tree and climbed up. I slid out of the timber and headed to get a coffee. At 10:45 my phone rings and he said you are not gonna believe this, I just smoked one too!!!
There was definitely something happening on that side of the farm and 2 shooters died less than 2hrs apart - what a freakin morning!!!
My deer ended up being a big heavy 6x5 that we know well and his a big 8! What a day and few days of hunting with my bro!!!
