Infrared Concern/Question for trail-cams

Both of mine are Infrared, I never did look at them at dark, I THINK they have a red OR visible light that we could see though right? I think there's all those dots that light up and supposedly can't be seen by deer correct.

I ask for 2 reasons-
1) many people recommend using IR for tresspassers so they don't see a flash BUT if there's still some red lighting or visible light, out of luck
2) I don't care if they say deer don't see them and they don't spook deer, they do. I know they don't have a bright flash like regular BUT the deer notice them and will eventually start avoiding them. I guess this is just from my experience and my opinion BUT I still say deer notice to some degree.

Thoughts???

Here is a clip from our IR video homebrew, this buck acted more curious than anything but we all know how deer react differently to flashes from cams or such. Some will come back like nothing happened, some are curious and move the cams, while others bust out of there. Shoot this buck in the video could have smelled us and that is why he acts like he does, not sure

I know my brother has made IR cams and they use LED lights with a piece of IR glass over them. At night all you can see is a little glow from each light, you can see the light come on no question. I could see how someone could pick an IR cam out at night if it took their picture but they would have to be looking at the cam, it doesn't light up the surrounding area like a flash bulb

Cool video...I would think he was picking up a little scent more than anything but hell I dont know.

I think alot of times they hear the camera more than the red light spooking them.

I have a cuddyback no flash that i have set to take videos. Last winter I put it on a gate pointing down the trail and many deer were spooked by the glow. Some hurried throught the gate & others wouldn't go through.

Reconyx & Predator make no glow cameras

They do definitely glow red but I agree a person would have to be looking at it to notice it most likely.

I'm using a few Moultrie I-40's right now and the deer seem to always be looking at the camera when it takes a picture. I've had several bucks get there picture taken every minute for over fifteen minutes and just about everytime they were looking at the camera. I know they didn't just sit there and stare at the camera for fifteen minutes so I walked by them at my house and there is a noticable click before it takes the picture. The Moultries are a little slow too so I figure they're hearing this and looking and then it's taking their picture.

All that said I'm still seeing bucks stick around longer with the IR cams than the flash cams. I figure most guys getting a lot of pics of mature bucks with flash cams are getting them over a well established mineral that they are used to and they are used to getting their picture taken. Although I still do see a few bucks that could care less about a flash.

I'm waiting for my Cuddeback Capture IR's to come in so I can test them out and compare them to the Moultrie I-40's. They should be quicker. I just want to see if they make as much noise and if you still get blurry pictures. My I-40's take a few blurry pics too but I put it on 2-shot burst so hopefully one of the two turns out. It's been working so far.

BTW cool video Loess that definitely looks like he can't see a thing. Looks like he just smells something. Who knows.

I have never had a IR camera only flash Cuddebacks. I love the great pictures I get a night with the flash. I think some deer are just more spoky than others.

I just got 2 new cameras this week. Both Reconyx one IR the other a no glow.
