Injuries

I don't know how many of them are true, but I've heard stories of hunters gutting a deer and getting cut by a broadhead that was lodged somewhere inside, but didn't kill the deer. I've also heard stories of people jumping a deer right when they crouch down to check it out and get cut by hoof or gouged with an antler. I'm not sure if these are stories just to make people more cautions, but I was just wondering if anyone has and personal experiences to share

Well I have never been cut before but we have a jar with everything from broadheads to slugs. The broadheads werent from us.

There was no injury involved in this story, but during last years shotgun season, my cousin shot a doe. One shot, she dropped, end of story right? Wrong. He walks over to her, leans his gun against a tree, grabs his knife to start gutting her. Suddenly she jumps to her feet and takes off as if nothing was wrong. It turns out that he just grazed the side of her head and apparently it was enough to knock her a little silly for a while. The look on my cousin's face was priceless! I had the pleasure of watching the whole thing from about 50 yards away. When he turned around, he had a look on his face that had me laughing for hours!

anyone ever charged or attacked by a deer but not hurt?

what would you call the pic of guy in the durango when the deer jumped from the overpass? deer suicide?

may be urban legend but possible a man near osage iowa was killed by buck during a hunting trip. the deer jumped a fence or something and landing on him, i have heard it serveral times maybe one of the central iowa guys may be able to shed more light on the validitiy of it.

i was almost attacked by a doe and 2 fawns just 2 weeks ago... yes i know it sounds funny but it got my heart racen... i was out scouting an area i was headed back to my truck alittle before dark and saw doe and then she saw me and jumped so i just kept walking 30 yards later her and her 2 fawns are running right at me the fawns came by so close i could have kicked them the big problem was they stopped about 10 ft behind me and mom was about 20 ft infront of me not a good sitution at all... after some stomping i finally got a lane to back out and they went on their way ive never had that happen to me before

that's pretty funny daddy, reminds me of a story that is off topic a bit but related. during deer season my hunting parter and i cut across a penned area we had been hunting by to get to our truck. famous last words "i hope the bulls not in here" a few minutes later from behind us we hear snorting, look and four bulls wanting to know what we were doing in thier pen. we started to walk a little faster they started to walk a little faster we stopped they surrounded us like a scene out of west side story, so we found some daylight and booked for the fence, they chased no one was hurt but i would have been okay, you don't have to be the fastest just faster than the slowest

I've seen broadheads in the chest cavity of deer when I've gutted them. I also seen a deer when I was kid with a arrow neckless. I don't think the arrows these days would bend like that.

On Sept. 29, a deer pinned a man against his house and bit a chunk out of his wife's arm in Mendocino County in Northern California.

Several stories here.
I hit a buck with my van but was only doing about 15mph when I hit him. He went spinning out in front of me on the pavement. I bailed out and jumped on him as he was trying to get back up. I was laying on top of him with a death grip on his throat. A car came by as all this kicking and thrashing was going on. He stopped and asked what I was doing. I replied, "Making sure he doesn't get away". Tell you what folks, they are very strong and it takes several minutes to put one down by strangulation. I was much younger and very foolish back then. I didn't get injured but it's a wonder I didn't.

My ex brother in law had gut shot a doe and several of us were out the next morning tracking. We were about ready to give up when more sign was found. The brother in law yells, "there she is"
She was laying under a cedar and not moving. He drags her out to gut her and say's "she's not even stiff" About that time he catches a hoof right in the jewels.

Took him right to his knees.
I've got a couple more involving wrestling a doe and another one getting a muley doe with nothing but a Bowie knife. I'll save those for another time,

If youda hit him with your Substandardsuburban the buck would have stood there unfazed and the Substandardsuburban would have fallen to pieces around you. Then he would have mocked you encesently. Nuthin worse than bein mocked by a buck, gives a fella the weirdest nightmares, not that I would know anything about that.

Well, OK, I'll confess. The only injuries that deer have caused me are strictly psychological. My couselor says the nigtmares should pass and the shakes will go away with medication but I will probably have the flashbacks forever.

My step father shot one years ago that had 18" of arrow in the chest cavity. I had to seperate deer with bird shot in their rear, I suppose they were being chased from someones garden.

Buddy shot a button buck 2 yrs ago that came right at him while he was gutting a doe. Came right for him, by time he put the knife down and picked up his gun he was so close the wading was stuck in the deer.

No injuries to date though.

Sorta off topic but I have heard that some critters(bear and deer) will some times get really aggressive during the rut(deer of course) if there is a woman on her monthly cycle????

i can confirm the guy killed by the deer by osage. i believe this happened before i was born or i was very young as i didnt know the guy but know his widow. the story goes that he was posted in a road ditch and the deer jumped the deer and landed on his chest, i believe he had several hoof prints on his chest, i dont know if it was from one deer or several
