Interesting bit of history....

THought you guys might get a kick out of this. I was going through a bunch of old old magazines yesterday as I am preparing to move. I happened to find this on the front page of a SPorts Afield magazine from 1969. I laughed out loud when I saw it and I thought you might find it interesting.

Considering what those wood handled takedowns bring in todays market you could buy a couple top end wheel bows. I've seen just the handles for those bows go for thousands! So I guess in a way the add is correct.
Thanks for the bit of history.

I have a couple old bear takedowns from the early 70's. Are you telling me they are worth a lot?

One of them is called a Bear 76er. It was made in 1975 and it's in honor of the 200th bicentennial birthday of the USA in 1976. It is red white and blue. I always wondered if it was worth anything since they didn't make very many of them.

If anyone has one of those sitting in their basement, I'd be more than happy to take that piece of junk off your hands.

I'll second that!

The 76er's aren't worth much. Sorry.

Man that is awesome, I actually remember that article. No kidding! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I was 19 years old back then; there were very few hunting magazines on the market in 1969. I read and reread every page of the ones that were in circulation. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Thanks for bringing back some memories! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif
