Introduced Legislation

Daver,
Well said. I wish I were as calm, cool, and reasonable when discussing the issues. I think there are alot of people that move for more opportunities and higher pay- I guess that is just the trade off we all have to consider when we think about remaining a resident, paying Iowa taxes, and all that being a resident involves versus moving away. I don't see anything being so good somewhere else- higher wages, lower taxes, more whatever that I ever consider moving. I have lived in a few other states and have never seen anything that I'd trade for Iowa.

I don't agree with the 2 acre qualification, even for the residents. I think this is a flaw in their system. I believe it should be more like 20-40 acres and for ground that has current crop on it, not crp.

I agree, two acres is an absurd figure.

I think that there is a 40 acre minimum to be considered a farm in Iowa. Smaller acrages are faced with different ag use restrictions from what I understand. There needs to be ONE legal size/definition.

Another problem I see is how tired are you going to be of hunting only two acres? If you have a landowners tag, you would be forced to stay on your two acres. Talk about a temptation tag to get itchy feet!

What many NR often forget is the wildlife is property of the state. Owning ground only provides access to the wildlife, it's not an entitlement to the wildlife. The entitlement comes via a hunting license not land ownership.

This very law (common in most states)saved sport hunting from commerical hunting. Once land ownership begins to grant a right to wildlife it trumps the whole idea that all citizens own the wildlife equally.

Sadly in this era anything that generates money is consider positive no matter the affects on the natural resouces.

I just hope I draw a tag in two years, I'm just greatful to come when I can.
