The fence law is archaic. Needs to change. If both property owners have livestock , fine. Why should I assume half of a sh*tty fence I didn’t build ? That’s exactly a scenario I found myself in years ago. Props to my neighboring landowner who said my cows my fence. Good dude.

My son and I spent hours fixing the fence where it crossed a creek. Because that’s where they were getting in initially. Worst part was, it was on his “half”. Sometimes being a good neighbor sucks!

I don't know if Iowa has penalties for trespassing or intentionally interfering with hunting on private?

PA implemented Act 36 this year to address trespassing which penalizes hunters trespassing to lose privileges for up to 5 years. I've had issues the past two years, all my postings were ripped off the property line, and I found over 8 dead deer the two previous years. Hopefully this will keep trespassers away or someone intentionally interfering with hunting, or so I thought.

This past Thursday night around 9:30pm my neighbor and I got pics of two guys tromping around his place, so I checked a couple of my cams the next day. I have them on video and we're trying to figure out who they were. It seems they were tracking a deer, but I have a section that is a sanctuary thar I never enter and these jerks stomped right through there!

Totally agree. Thankfully it was just that spot, didn’t have the tools do do a whole length of fence
