Wow...how much adrenalin ran thru his system prior to the shot?????? Excellent doe elimination machine but belongs out west or better yet in the military. I am not so much against it for the overkill on fire power but as a safety issue......read some of the posts in the link......zeroed at 1000 meters???? Not too safe for Iowa farmland or even Missouri hills Just my opinion tho....
You know I find it kinda funny how people always talk about bowhunters wounding game and crippling them. Then you have goobers like this who use a rifle that's sole purpose was to split people in half and cause total destruction with what ever was in the path of the 700 grain bullet and yet this booger picker hits the deer and doesnt even hit it in the vitals and has to walk up and put it down at a closer range. I bet the closer range shot had his blood pumping more than the shot that was sent from the neighboring county. I guess thats why I love bowhunting so much. You get to see everything that goes on around you. The thought process that runs through your head as the deer walks to your stand and the new cuss words you come up with when you screw it up. I bet these are the exact same things that went on in the this guys mind as he calculated the crosswind, bullet drop and movement of the animal as the shot goes off. Oh boy Sign me up
I can't believe that any state would even allow hunting with something that big or that anyone would be stupid enough to want to. I prefer to shoot something at 20 feet.
Imagine trying to lug that heavy thing around. You for sure want to make sure that you have a good background before you shoot that man beast of a gun.

Forget 20 feet! I prefer them at 5-10 feet. I have a trail so close that the deer will rub my tree walking by it!
I think in the military, NATO regs do not allow them to be used on personel but rather for LWV and Track immobilization however, snipers do use them at times for target elimination.

One of the western states ran into problems with people elk "hunting" with .50BMGs in the back of pick up trucks. They banned the practice before any hunters in the field were wounded by incoming rounds.
somewhere in one of my email folders there is a pic, that supposedly came from iraq or afganistan, of a victim of a .50 cal round from one of our snipers......not pretty
