Been a weird Rut for us. Things didn't start cooking until about the 12th of November. I'm tied up with work until the 26th or 27th. You think I might still have a chance at finding a mature buck looking for a doe?
Shot my buck last night, he and another mature buck were hot on a doe- when we went into retrieve him around 7:30pm a younger buck was grunting & checking out does near us. Great action in Polk Co. Yesterday!
IMO, depends on the area. There will still be a few does coming in to heat, but the bucks are starting to tolerate each other more and grouping back up from what I noticed so far. I have been hunting all across the state the past two weeks, and seems like one area is rocking, and next is dead. Biggest thing though, cant shoot em from the couch, and all it takes is that one deer.
Its still on. Most of the does have been bred and the bucks are looking for the leftovers. I went for a hike yesterday to do some scouting for late season and saw a really nice 8 and a really nice 10 point cruising. Also kicked up a nice 8 and a doe bedded together. If I wasn't tagged out I know what I'd be doing.
Always good bucks cruising this time of the year, just have to be there when they are. A guy can put a lot of hours in the stand this time of the year without seeing anything, but if you are out there it can pay off big.
Sat this morning until 10. Saw 10 bucks and 2 does from stand. Lots of searching and chasing still going on. Also saw two fawns by themselves on the way out.
Not where I'm hunting. Hunted this morning and didnt see a single deer. Pulled my camera card today and every single Buck was coming through at night and only 1 day picture of a doe. Im thinking the only doe left in the woods. Trying a new farm in the morning. Never seen it or been there before. Doing the hang and hunt thing and see if I can make some last minute magic happen.

I hunted Sunday evening in southern Iowa. It was the first night I didn't seeing any rutting activity. I had two decent bucks among 15 does and the bucks could care less. They were eating as much corn as they could.
Had a good buck bumping does around last night. Not sure if I would have shot him or not but he came to a snort weeze. Problem is so did a smaller buck from the other direction. They tickled horns for about 10 minutes behind some brush. Later I could see a couple does running around in the field and the bigger buck following and grunting. Then a pack of yotes showed up and ruined everything.
