Jan Antlerless Hunt

So, about 1pm TODAY I bought a Page Co. Tag and tagged out tonight. My Dad told me "We're goin' hunting!" so we went got my tag and 2012 hunting licence. Well, at 2pm we got to where we were going and I spotted a huge "Doe" at 700 yards we walked within 200 and I noticed a Doe and a fawn. At 80 yards, there were now 3. Two huge "Does" and a yearling. Well, we sat there for 30+ mins and my Dad handed me the gun. The sun was in my eyes and I couldn't get a shot so we sat 10 more mins and I hear something to my left 10 yards away in the grass and I told my Dad "There's a deer there, it's going to bust us." Well, it was two Pheasents in the grass and they fly off and these Deer get up from their beds and I shoot and the biggest one was down.
4 out of 6 tags filled for the 2011-2012 season.

4 Bucks, I wanted a Doe that's why I got the tag! We only have Buck meat...

Exactly why this season is such a waste. You have a lot of people that cant tell a buck from a doe. Or just dont care. The body alone should have made it obvious. If it looks like a "huge" doe, chances are it is not. What a shame.

To each his own, we all have our own prerogatives. Even though I don't hunt the late season because I do not agree with shooting shed bucks (or more does for that matter), that doesn't mean everyone is that way and maybe they just want the meat. If its a legal kill then that's ok in my book. Teenagehunter will just have to understand that because of his decision there will be one less buck next year that could've had a decent rack on him.

Congrats. You have really killed some nice deer this year. Its a shame that this one was a shed buck, but you'll eventually learn how to tell the difference. The important thing is you are out there having fun, and learning how to be a better hunter. The more time you spend at it the more you'll learn. I learn something new almost everytime I go out.

Give a little support. This age group is the future of hunting. Scolding them wont help the matter, if anything it will make it worse.
