Jim Shockey's Uncharted

Has anybody been watching this on the Outdoor Channel? I think its pretty dang interesting. Not really your typical hunting show. Jim seems like a all around good guy.

Yup. The episodes in Papua New Guinea were awesome. I'm watching it right now actually. I've always liked watching Jim Shockeys hunting shows but this one is definitely different and not just about a kill. It's very refreshing minus all the sqwincher ads.

Great show. Best I have seen compared to almost all the others. I like how he talked about the hunter/gatherer culture that thrives, happily, in Papua New Guinea. Proof positive that more stuff won't make you happy. I also like the fact that they are not afraid to acknowledge Jesus during the show.

It's easily my favorite. Cory and Jim seem like awesome guys and they hunt places I've never seen.

It's a great fresh new prospective in hunting and I love it. Albeit the locations are dream hunts it's still cool to see another angle. I also love the fact that it's an hour.

its awesome!!! great stories and camera work! always a shockey fan! plus i don't have to hear any freak nasty booger bottom or boo-ya b.s. that makes me want to vomit

Don't get me wrong, I dig the show too (Not as cool as MudBum Boys but most aint) but...did any body else catch how upset Shockey seemed to be that the papua new guinea natives cut down that tree to kill that white monkey aka, their dinner?

To me, his actions were reminiscent of an animal rights activist watching one of us whack a deer. Quite frankly, I was bothered by the fact that he was bothered by the event that just took place!

Anybody else know what I'm talkin about?

Ya I seen it. I think it upset him the way they killed it but he said several times that this is how they live and he understands why they do it. I'm a hunter and hearing that critter scream before they knocked it in the head was even tough for me to watch. I think it just shows how much respect he has for animals.

No, I had the same reaction Shockey had. It seemed very harsh, but if I needed food that bad I'm clubbing the monkey too. It's just a different culture and way of life. We don't understand that because we go to the grocery for the majority of our food and it's always fresh.

Your comparison about anti's view of us killing deer is the same feelings I'm sure, just for different reasons. We can also understand why they took that animals life. Anti's lose reality at that key point.

Agreed. It just struck me as ironic that Shockey would have that reaction. People hunt for food and its not always pretty. I just figured he of all people would understand that. I'm not necessarily knocking the guy. It just surprised me.

I'm with IAbwhntr. I know a lot of guys that whack coons on the head when trapping instead of wasting .22 ammo and they don't even eat them. I understand the respect thing, but I think they went a little overboard. I am not knocking Jim or the show ( too bad ), but I thought for a guy that has killed as many animals as Jim has it seemed a little ironic.

I do like the show though and will not quit watching.
