The Hunt Never Ends....
I know there was some talk on here not to long ago about producing an Iowawhitetail video of Iowawhitetail member hunts. My roomate (lefler168) and I have done some thinking and we really think that us and other members of Iowawhitetail who videotape hunts could make a good movie. We are not talking about a professional movie, but just something that us here at iowawhitetail can share with each other, and something that will preserve memories for years to come. What do all of you think about this idea? Would you want to submit video to be put on a DVD? Now, neither my roomate or I have a clue on how to copy tape onto cd's or make movies, but my wrestling coach is very good at doing this, and he could help us, or atleast set us off on the right foot. Now, we realize this would take time and a lot of effort, but the end result would be great. Any thoughts?

Ok I have this hat, and it has a D for my school and red had w/ blue writings b/c thats my schools colors. On the front its a D and on the back it has my last name. What would be cool is to have a hat in camo or what ever w/ and I-Whitetail logo and on the back have the Disply name like mine would be Young12_Gauge. Now how you are wondering how is that possible? Well, Its not a button back, or a Velcrow <--- spelling back but it is a felxe fit. That means it has no back like a button its fits all sizes. Its not a bad idea buts its a cool one too.

Now, now, I think the boy is on to something there. Some camo IW hats with our names screened on the back would be cool. If somebody can get the ball rolling on that there would probably be several people interested in buying one.

As far as videoing none of the guys I know would give up their own valuable time in stand to film somebody elses hunt uless they tag out early. Sounds like a good idea though.
 
Sureshot1...we bounce this idea around quite a bit. It is a great idea! Critr bought a real nice camera this year and is going to lay down some awesome footage.

It just seems that with everyone devoting all their time to hunting there is little time to spend putting a video together.

But, by all means, go for it...if we get enough good stuff from the members maybe this is something we can work on for the future.

There is a lot more that goes into producing a video/DVD than just laying down some footage. Way over my head, and I have yet to see someone that could produce something step up to the plate.

Video quality is an issue. I have a couple of hunts on tape but in low light with a "BEST BUY" camcorder its hard to get the type of footage you need for a "quality" video. You can spend $2500 to $3000 pretty easily for a decent camera, and not too many guys are going to throw that kind of coin. It amazes me how much crappy video makes it to T.V. though. It would be fun to see other site members hunts. I plan on doing a little filming this fall so we'll see how it goes.
 
I'm going to have my son run the camera this fall. Yes, it is a "Best Buy" camera, but hopefully it turns out enough to save a really neat memory on film. I'm working on the tripod plan for up in the stand. He's only 10, and we share a stand, so room is a factor. I may get one of the tree mounts to avoid the sea sick version.
 
I hate to say it, but the footage captured by a camera that costs under 1000 dollars doesn't even remotely compare to the footage captured by a camera in the 2000 dollar range. I wish I would have done a lot more researching when I bought my first digital camera a few years ago. If your really serious about trying to capture some quality footage, save your money and buy a good camera the first time. You don't have to break the bank to get a good one either. If you're not afraid of E-bay you can find a good one for 1500 bucks. Although it won't be the best of the best, hands down it'll be 100 percent better than anything you can buy brand new for under 1000. I purchased a Sony VX2000 and absolutely love it. The clarity and colors of the picture blows my Best Buy camera out of the water. Try a search for a VX2000, VX2100, PD150, or PD170 (all Sony's) on E-bay, you might be surprised what you find.

Not hacking on you're camera or anything here, I've still got my Best Buy camera, and if you're using it for personal use only, it's all you need. Good luck with it this fall, hope you get some great footage.

Critr...you realize that this whole Iowawhitetail video would be possible if you would just take the entire Fall off work and video all the members here.

There is something close to what your talking about that is currently available. Whitetail Fanatic magazine is currently purchasing "deer hunting footage" from "average joe hunters" with the intent of using it to produce a video / TV show. Of course, the Whitetail Fanatic format wouldn't be specific just to contributors on IowaWhitetail.com, but it is somewhat close. Read about it at www.whitetailfanatic.com

sounds good to me on making a moive. if anyones very intresed and wanna start give me a pm on here...im up for it we could switch on and off hunting ....bow season is coming quick lets get it started i need a project for production media class anyway............ibh

Young_12_Guage....I like your hat idea...but this post is about making an iowawhitetail hunting video...your idea is great...just don't throw people off from the original post....
