Kansas Bird

Had a tough few days hunting in the Flint Hills -- cold, snow, rain and lots of wind. Saw birds but tough to get close enough and they weren't responding to calls, probably because they couldn't hear them over the wind.

After no luck Thursday or Friday, two of our group connected Saturday morning, bagging two jakes and a tom. Saturday night, a buddy and I set up his blind on a food plot and 10 minutes in and one calling sequence, this guy showed up. He was headed for our set up but the decoys were bobbing and spinning in the wind and he was spooky so I shot him at 35 yards as he was starting to walk off.

Not my biggest bird by a long ways, but a satisfying bird to get. 20 lbs, 11 7/8" beard (one whisker -- the rest were 10 1/4), 1" spurs.

(Sorry - accidentally posted this to the Harvest forum first)
