Killing Switchgrass With Cleth

Anybody ever kill mature switchgrass with cleth? I've got trees and shrubs in switch and the switch is getting way too thick for my liking. I don't want to kill the woody stuff - just the switch. Any experience here?

Round up/glyphosate to spray around trees should work

Jerry Gille-Do you want to kill or thin the whole field, thin pockets around the trees or just take pressure off the trees?

Just take some pressure off the trees. I am not trying to kill the whole field - just certain pockets/areas. The trees are smaller than the switch so I won't be locating individual trees and spraying around them. I will just be spraying switch and don't want to harm small trees in the process. That is why I don't think using gly is a good idea.

A quick search says clethodim should work. You can always do a small area first.

This is the first I've read of someone stating the switch was too thick! Cleth should do it for ya
