Land Permission

OK so I called my land owner today to get updated permission slips. While I was talking to her she mentioned that this may be the last year she gives out slips due to stuff being stolen from other hunters that hunt the area. I proceeded to ask her about a possible set lease rate if she does in fact change it to friends and close family only. How do you land owners deal with tracking who hunts the area if you don't hunt yourself. She wouldn't state what was being taken but with past experience i am assuming any items that the other hunter knows wasn't his and hes trying to keep them out. I would hate to lose this area but with being a close friend of hers for so many years I don't see that happening. What can I do to help her maintain the clean crew and keep the place free of thief's since the land is not posted with any signs.

Not sure there's much you can do except keep an eye on the property and report any suspicious activity to either her or, especially if illegal, to the CO and/or sherrif. I'd offer to help keep an eye out as well as help with anything needing done on the ground to show commitment to her and the land, possibly more so that the other hunters there. Also, if she takes away hunting privileges to others, I'd go hang Leased Hunting signs or whatever.

Also, if I'm hunting on someone else's land and know there are others hunting it as well, I'd treat it pretty much like public ground and expect that something may come up missing or that someone else may use it when I'm not there. Heck, I do that on family ground now. I hate to think about any of my stands, cameras or whatever being stolen from private ground, but if it isn't locked down (and sometimes if it is), it may walk away. Luckily (searching for the nearest wood to knock on) I haven't had anything taken, but I never rule it out.
