If you're ok with it with little, no or minor changes, vote YES.

If you are concerned we are doing major damage to hunting in Iowa, feel the dates are poorly chosen or feel it has accomplished its goal & needs to disappear - vote NO.

how about reducing the length of the season to 9 days?

If we were forced with a compromise, I would do this as a stepping stone. Sure. If DNR says "hey, we're getting close to getting to our goals in most areas, how about in 2012 we reduce to 9 days, 5 days in 2013 and then if we're at goal it's gone in 2014" I'd be willing to have that discussion.

good, because I can guarantee you they won't just abolish the season 'cause a few hotheaded deer hunters say so. To work adequately in the political realm, you HAVE to compromise.... there is no way around it. There is always more than one interested party to satisfy.

My worry it's like any government program or new tax/revenue, they are so hard to make go away. You could show there's only 4 deer left in the whole state but if they can sell 4 deer tags VS zero- Government would probably sell the 4 deer tags. It's like a new tax to pay for some Government bail-out program "we're going to raise your taxes by 3% for 5 years and then we'll get rid of that tax" - they never do, tax always stays & "that was just ancient history 5 years ago- need to discuss other things, get off it".
Sure thing though, I'm all for a compromise that's defined, fair, time-lined and very clearly stated & agreed on.

I am one who is on the fence about the season. When I say I'm on the fence, I guess its more along the lines of, I tolerate it, because its going to happen. But the length of it, is what gets me. I would be more than happy if they would cut it down to a 7 or 9 day season. That is more than enough time to get alot of doe's killed.

This was my 1st year I did it, and it was fun using my DPMS .308 and doing some long range sniping. Pretty easy though, but deer pop is high in Davis county on family farm. Now if it was up here in Central IA, NO!! In fact, my buddies and I are boycotting shooting does in Boone, webster, and hamilton counties; deer pop is too low up here. I vote yes, for where I hunt in davis county.:way:

Think you mean Iowa Farm Bureau not the DNR. Wonder they just dont put a bounty on deer till they get their way.

i'd give up the first 7 or 9 days after the gun seasons just to have the doe season earlier. truth is the dnr will probably never give it up because: its a money maker, pressure from farm bureau and insurance companies, its "tradition"(give me a break). very likely they never give it up totally in the southern counties. I think the greatest form of pressure we can put on the DNR would be to abstain from purchasing doe tags if we could generate a large enough following. Just one year would make them realize WE support the DNR not the FB or ins co. Then maybe the DNR would cater to us rather than the FB/INS CO/Legislature
