Late muzzleloader season and calls

I hunt the late muzzleloader season and am thinking about trying a call to improve my odds. Do calls work worth a darn first off, and are they usefull after the rut?

I've had good luck with a boring ol' grunt tube. I only use it if I have a decent buck farther away and I need to bring him in for a better luck. The good thing with late muzzle is that if he's within sight and he's good he's usually within range cuz the areas I hunt are pretty damn thick! I've also had some luck rattling late season in areas that I know hold good numbers of yarded up deer. My best luck, however, is when I'm just still hunting through thick, thick areas.
