Anyone listen to some of the recent wired to hunt podcasts and the discussion on the selling of 2 million acres of public lands that is included in Trumps beautiful bill? A buddy of mine who is not a Trump fan was going off on this over a couple drinks this weekend so I went and listened a little. Anyone have any more insight, details or thoughts on this?
 
It has been sweeping through the hunting/conservation/outdoor recreation side of social media for about a week or so now. A republican from Utah threw it into the bill in the middle of the night in hopes of it passing. I'm very much against the selling of public land.
 
Iowa is ahead of that game, with the move to block the acquisition of more public lands when there is a farmer who could buy the ground to start a business. Why should all that land sit idle when someone could be doing something profitable with it that would add taxes to the coffers? :rolleyes:
 
It's about 100x the 2 million your buddy said. Our lovely legislature (Repubs in western states in particular...) has now made two attempts to sell of hundreds of millions of public lands (mainly BLM and USFS lands). It was soundly defeated in the house but Mike Lee of Utah put it in the Senate version that we are currently fighting. This is one of the bright examples of social media, this has been all over the place and people are getting loud across the political spectrum. Pheasants Forever, BHA, and other organizations and even industry have been very outspoken.
